About Our Processes:

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is for children ages 4-9. “We believe that God and a child have a unique relationship with one another particularly before the age of six.” With the prepared environment called “the Atrium” and presentations done by a trained catechist, the child is “called forth” in response rather than “poured in” information. The child with the catechist will enjoy meditating on the questions generated by the scriptures with the prepared environment as a development aid.

A few of the Presentations for ages 4 & 5  Practical Life Skills such as; spooning, polishing, and flower arranging.  Life of the Church; Altar Work and Liturgical Colors,  Bible stories; The Good Shepherd, The Mustard, Seed, and The Annunciation.

A few of the  Presentations for ages 6 – 9  Practical Life Skills such as; journaling, bookmaking, and sewing.  Life of the Church; Altar Work and Liturgical Time  Bible stories;  The Creation, The Eucharistic Presences, Our Father Prayer, The Good Samaritan and The Parable of the True Vine.

Grade Level Religious Education Text Book for grades 1st – 6th.   For a child to develop a relationship with Jesus, to understand the Catholic faith through prayers, Scripture, and the Catechism.

Sacramental Preparation

First Reconciliation: (Child is baptized, seven (7) years old and older, and has attended (1) year of grade level of faith formation classes). Allow children to experience what it means to be sorry, to make up or reconcile. A child learns both to seek and to give forgiveness. Parent sessions are part of this process.

Confirmation and First Holy Communion: (Child is baptized, in at least the 3rd grade and has attended 2 years of grade level faith formation classes and has been prepared for First Confession) is ongoing faith formation in the lives of children as well as the family and the parish, Parent Sessions and Family Retreat is part of the process.

R.C.I. A. (RCIC) adapted for children ages 7- 14:
Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist for a child who is in 2nd-8th grade who is not baptized and needs to be prepared and receive Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

This is a 3 Year Family Process and a family interview is required.
