Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“Entrust yours cares to the Lord and He will sustain you.” Psalm 55:22
In these difficult times that we are facing due to the coronavirus I pray that God will shower His blessings on all of you and that you will place your trust in Him. This is not a time for despair or negative thinking but one in which we need to reevaluate our priorities and recognize that which is most important in our lives in order to appreciate the many gifts and blessings that we have from God. The saying “you don’t know what you have until you lose it” has never been truer. While it is necessary to take these measures for the greater good, it is nevertheless painful to not be able to gather for Mass and hear the Word of God and receive His precious Body and Blood in the Eucharist. This is not a reason to abandon our faith but rather to fortify it more and more.
I would like to encourage all of you to draw closer to God in these days. Come together at home as a family to pray. Take time together to read the Bible passages we handed out to all of you a few weeks ago. Pray the Rosary as a family and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Do Spiritual Communions by uniting your hearts to Jesus in the Eucharist and asking Him to come into your souls. See the Mass on television or online each week.
Although we cannot celebrate public Masses, each of us priests will be saying Mass each day and praying for all of you and for your intentions. Please pray for us as well.
It is my desire that when this has passed, as it shall, we are all more aware of the great gift that God has given us in His Son and how we should live always with our eyes and hearts set on that which is eternal. Jesus, we trust in you!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Thomas Bennett
